Liang Shaoji

Liang Shaoji occupies an unshakable and important position in the history of Chinese contemporary art. In the same time, he is one of the most important contemporary artists in China. He was born in Shanghai in 1945 and graduated from the China Academy of Art. He is famous for creating soft sculptures using silk. For more than 30 years, Liang Shaoji has devoted himself to exploring the critical points of art and biology, installations, sculptures, new media, and behavior. He has continued to use the life course of silkworms as the medium, interaction with nature as the feature, and time and life as the core started the creation Series of "Nature ".

Liang Shaoji's works are full of meditation, philosophical thinking and poetry, and have an inner beauty of illusory silk traces. He was nominated for the China Contemporary Art Award (CCAA) in 2002 and the Prince Claus Award of the Netherlands in 2009. Liang Shaoji has held many solo and group exhibitions worldwide, and his works have also been collected by the world's top art institutions and private collectors.
